Primary education

Our partners focus on children and the key people in their lives – parents, carers, and teachers – to close early learning gaps in reading, writing, and numeracy. We address barriers such as lack of extracurricular activities, limited access to learning resources, and even food insecurity.

In the primary education segment, we continue our focus on children and the key people in their lives – parents, carers and teachers. Children from disadvantaged or socially marginalized backgrounds frequently fall behind their peers at primary school in areas such as reading, writing and basic numeracy.

Lack of access to learning opportunities at home, lack of organized activities outside school – even lack of food can hold these children back. It is surprisingly common for children to struggle in class because they are hungry. For example, according to our partner Magic Breakfast, 4 million children are at risk of food insecurity at the start of the day in the UK.

Our partners support children and their teachers at school and provide extracurricular activities including sports, culture and the arts that aid their social skills and personal development. They also help to address the stress that poverty and lack of social provision cause for their parents.

Secondary Education

Our secondary education partners target pupils aged 13–18, with the goal of closing the attainment gap between disadvantaged students and their more privileged peers – a gap that research shows can reach the equivalent of 18 months of schooling by the time they leave secondary school.

Young Adults

The transition from school to adult life is a critical period, especially for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Many face uncertainty about their next steps – whether to pursue higher education, enter the workforce, or develop new skills.

Our programs for young adults combine mentoring, skills development, and real-world work experience to build confidence and open opportunities.
